Ankahi 2020, the legendary Haseena Moin’s masterpiece, to be presented at Karachi Arts Council from 20 October 2020.
“With the permission of the government, all cultural and educational activities have been started in the Arts Council. The Arts Council has started its activities in full compliance with the SOP’s on the direction of the government. After the successful Independence Day celebrations, all programs will now be back to normal.
The contemporary adaption of a classic Haseena Moin’s drama “ Ankahi” will start on 20 October 2020 at the Arts Council” These views were expressed by Arts Council’s President, Muhammad Ahmad Shah while addressing a press conference held at Arts Council.
A press conference was held at the Arts Council. Legendary play writer Haseena Moin, Senior Actor Sajid Hassan, Actress Amna Ilyas, Director Dawar Mahmood, and writer Saqib Sameer were also present on the occasion.
Further addressing the conference Ahmed Shah said that due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the theater was postponed. He said that many more festivals have been arranged which will be announced later.
Legendary playwright Haseena Moin spoke of the challenges the production team will face in recreating a drama adored by the public “It is a challenge but the transition isn’t as difficult a task for this team as you’d imagine.” “The purpose of bringing this drama back is to send a message to the new generation that we need love in this age. You can’t move forward until the hatred in your heart disappear.” she added.
Director of the play Dawar Mahmood said “this is our tribute to the great Haseena Moin. I am glad we are now getting the opportunity to finish what we started earlier this year. We would like to pay tribute to one of the finest playwrights the country has ever seen. Unlike its inspiration, Ankahi 2.0 is set in the present day, but will still depict urban middle-class life with the panache that is a prerequisite for a stage production. I assure you no one will go home disappointed”
Veteran actor Sajid Hasan lauded Haseena Moin’s generosity for allowing her drama to be recreated for the stage. “It is a testament to her brilliance that Ankahi is making waves in 2020. In our society, outstanding individuals like Haseena Moin do not get the recognition they merit. We’d like to encourage people to watch Ankahi as I am sure they will enjoy its stage adaptation.
Saqib Sameer said that this play is different from the previous ones it is adapted according to today’s situation.
On this occasion, actress Amna Ilyas said that this is my first stage show and I am truly honored to be a part of this show.This drama consists different scenes where we giggled, cried and danced
